Based on the reading of Le Guin’s short story I developed two contrasting theories of social justice. One theory is that everyone should come together and do what is morally and socially correct. A few aspects that are explicitly shown are that there are boys, girls, women, and men that do not even return home after visiting the child or wait a day or two and then leave Omelas. It is implied at the end of the article that the people who leave Omelas leave because they can no longer live happily in a city after seeing the miserable child. Another theory is that everyone should watch out for themselves, only worry about them being happy, and that their own decisions lead them to where they are in life. An aspect that makes this explicitly addressed is that there is a 10 year old child locked in a closet to make the whole city of Omelas happy. If someone lets the child out then the whole city will become unhappy, friendships will be lost, and the beauty of the city will be gone. The city depends on this child’s misery. When people go to see the child they often go home in tears. This shows that people are being selfish because they know the child’s miserable in there yet no one will do anything about it. An aspect that is implied is that no one is going to do anything about it because they just go home and cry and then continue on with their happy lives after they see the child.

2. I prefer to be called Kristen.
3. Picture is located in my profile.
4. I am a John Carroll University cheerleader, my favorite color is pink, I am half German and half Ukrainian, and I plan on majoring in marketing.
5. For me to feel comfortable taking intellectual and creative risks in a classroom there needs to be respect from one another and all be friendly.
6. I believe the most important technological invention today is the cell phone. Today's cell phones allow you to contact anyone anywhere. When students are away at college they can keep in touch with their parents back home. Also, cell phones today have the internet so you can look up information at anytime. Having had a cell phone for years now would make it almost impossible to not have one.
7. A few technologies I currently believe to be essential to my life are computers, lights, televisions, and cell phones.
8. I use a computer almost everyday. I use it for keeping in contact with individuals, looking up information, and social networking. I mostly use two types of social media and they are facebook and email which I check multiple times each day. I use a lot of different types of digital media. They include computers, cell phones, radios, Ipods, and televisions. I would rate my technical proficiency a 7.
9. A couple questions I would like to ask Dr. David Shutkin would be:
    1. Where did he attend college?
    2. How long has he been teaching?
